How to Prepare Your Narration Script

We know you’ve taken lots of time to write the perfect narration voice script, but there are just a few things we want you to double-check before you send it in.

Follow the steps below to get your narrator voice script ready to go!

Read Your Script Out Loud to Yourself

Read Your Script

This might sound a little funny, but we want to make sure you’ve included natural pauses (breaths) throughout your narration voice script. Reading your script out loud will help you notice where those pauses should naturally fall.

At each pause, be sure to add a comma, period, or other punctuation mark depending on the flow of your sentence.

As a general rule, allow a short pause for a comma, a slightly longer pause for a period, and a longer break between paragraphs. This is simply a helpful guide to keep your voice over script sounding smooth and natural.

Take this chance to tidy up any run-on sentences. If you find yourself pausing too frequently, it may help to remove some unnecessary punctuation.

Avoid Abbreviations

avoid abbreviations

Have you used any abbreviations in your narration script? Please write them out for clarity! This ensures our voice talent knows exactly how you want it spoken. Here are some common abbreviations we often see:

Time zones: EST should be written as Eastern Savings Time
States: LA should be written as Louisiana
Companies: INC. should be written as incorporated if that is what is desired

Specify How You Want Numbers Read

specify how you want numbers read

Does your narrator voice script include numbers? Tell us exactly how you want them pronounced!

For example, some people prefer that 0 is read as “zero” and others as “oh”.

Please write it out as you wish to have it read.
Example: 1 eight hundred 256 zero 123.
